VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM SUPPORTED BY: R.S. ANDREWSWhether you love golf or have a heart for the community, volunteering at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic is an experience like no other in sports. We rely on the commitment of over 500 volunteers to put on a successful event. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and have the opportunity to serve on one of 20+ committees all with different functions. No matter what your background or level of golf knowledge, there is a committee for you!
SCORING
Walking Scorers
Walk 18 holes inside the ropes with the professional golfers during competition rounds. Volunteers will carry a handheld device with PGA TOUR Scoring software and input stroke, scoring and statistical information. Scorers will also have constant voice communication with PGA TOUR staff.
REQUIREMENTS: Instructional Session (date/time TBD). Ability to walk 18-hole golf course and operate issued equipment. Work all official tournament rounds. Have a good understanding of the rules of golf and golf etiquette along with a professional appearance and attitude.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignment is outdoors, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:00 am. Evening shifts may end as late at 8:00 pm.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Friday – Sunday
*New volunteers will be required to work Thursday as a practice round
Standard Bearers
Ideal for youth volunteers, this is considered a “physical” position. Standard Bearers will accompany a group of professionals during play and display their scores in relationship to par on a cumulative basis. Having a basic knowledge of the golf scoring system is beneficial but not required.
REQUIREMENTS: Ages 13+ who are able to carry the standard (weighing approximately 6lbs.) through the round. Ability to walk 18-hole golf course.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Friday – Sunday*
PGA TOUR Live Spotters
Walk with a group of players and relay information to the Golf Channel production team, drive on-air personalities around the course.
REQUIREMENTS: Experienced golf knowledge; ability to communicate clearly, timely and precisely over radio; physically able to walk 18 holes in any weather element.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignment is outdoors, with varying weather conditions.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Friday through Sunday – must be available for all 3 days. Shift times may vary each day and are determined by PGA TOUR Live needs.
Drive Recorders
Work in teams to measure the distance of tee shot on specified holes using lasers and flags.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to walk on and off the fairway, operate a headset, clear speech and good listening skills. Work all official tournament rounds. Mandatory Instructional Session (date/time TBD).
WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignment is outdoors, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Start of play through end of play.

MARSHALS
Driving Range
Responsible for the set up/tear down of the practice facility and the day to day operations of the area that includes the driving range, putting green, chipping green, and the surrounding spectator areas. As PGA TOUR Champions professionals enter and exit the range, volunteers will be responsible for setting up nameplates that identify each player, providing the players golf balls, and general assistance.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up-to 20 lbs. and drive a golf cart.

WORKING HOURS: Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:00 am. Evening shifts may end as late at 8:00 pm.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Monday – Sunday*
Hole Marshals
Manage crowds and provide gallery control to a specific hole for the duration of the event.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk 2 – 3 holes of the golf course unassisted.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignment is outdoors, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Flexible based on schedule of play.

HOSPITALITY
Hole #10 and #11
Provide a friendly, welcoming experience for guests as they arrive to The Perch presented by Axis Companies – greeting them at the entrances of our hospitality venues throughout the course, checking for proper credentials, scanning their tickets, and providing wristbands. Once guests are inside the venue, committee members help guests have an enjoyable time – helping them find a seat, navigating them to the bar and food service areas, and even pointing them to the restrooms when necessary.

Hole #16
Provide a friendly, welcoming experience for guests as they arrive to the Piedmont Eastside Medical Center hospitality tent, checking for proper credentials, scanning their tickets, and providing wristbands. Once guests are inside the venue, committee members help guests have an enjoyable time – helping them find a seat, navigating them to the bar and food service areas, and even pointing them to the restrooms when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS: Standing for long periods of time.

Hole #17 and #18
Provide a friendly, welcoming experience for guests as they arrive to the Champions Club on 17, Cabanas on 18, and 18th Green Skyboxes, checking for proper credentials, scanning their tickets, and providing wristbands. Once guests are inside the venue, committee members help guests have an enjoyable time – helping them find a seat, navigating them to the bar and food service areas, and even pointing them to the restrooms when necessary.

Client Services
Provide information and assistance to corporate sponsors and guests to enhance their enjoyment and create loyalty to the tournament. Assist players while they interact with the sponsors in the hospitality areas.
REQUIREMENTS: Have a cordial and hospitable attitude. Ability to drive a golf cart.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignment is outdoors, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Minimum of two (2) tournament days, to provide consistency for sponsors.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Reserved for pre-appointed volunteers; Friday – Sunday*
Clubhouse Marshals
Control access to clubhouse areas to credentialed individuals. Assist Marshals to control noise levels on clubhouse grounds adjacent to the golf course. Provide assistance to all hospitality patrons.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand for 1 – 2 hours at a time.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor / Outdoor, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:00 am. Evening shifts may end as late at 8:00 pm.

Spectator Information
As fans arrive to the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, Spectator Information volunteers will provide one of the first interactions with guests as they arrive and are an instrumental part of the fan experience and are responsible for ensuring that all guests are admitted onto the tournament grounds with the correct tickets and credentials.

Hospitality Transportation
Provide transportation to patrons with hospitality tickets for holes #16, #17, and #18 using multi-passenger golf carts.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to drive a golf cart.

WORKING HOURS: Flexible based on schedule of play.

TOURNAMENT SERVICES
Caddie Services
Serve as a liaison between the tournament and professional caddies. Inside the Caddie Services Area, you’ll be the initial volunteer helping caddies register, while also collecting and issuing caddie bibs with nameplates, and providing them a place to relax and recharge throughout tournament week.
REQUIREMENTS: Valid Driver’s License
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Monday – Sunday
Golf Carts
Responsible for all the check-in, check-out, security, and safety of 100+ onsite golf carts. Committee will work directly with the Director of Operations on labeling, cart allotment, storage, distribution, and return each evening.
REQUIREMENTS: Drive a golf cart, check, and fill gas tanks. Valid Driver’s License.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignment is outdoors, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:00 am. Evening shifts may end as late at 8:00 pm.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Pre-Tournament, Tournament Week, and Post-Tournament.
On-Course Refreshments and Publications
Place fruits, snacks, beverages, and ice in coolers at various locations around the course for the golfers. Place Pairings Guides at various locations during the tournament.
REQUIREMENTS: Operate a golf cart; valid driver’s license; ability to lift up to 40lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Assignment is outdoors, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Two (2) shifts per day, starting as early as 6:00 am and continuing through the end of play.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Monday – Sunday*
Pre- and Post-Tournament Set-up
Set-up and tear-down of all tables, chairs, and other items. Applying mesh to fences and other areas as needed. Set-up and tear-down of equipment used for special events and productions during tournament week.
REQUIREMENTS: Operate a golf cart; drive a pick-up truck; valid driver’s license; ability to lift up to 40lbs.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Pre-Tournament, Tournament Week, and Post-Tournament
PLAYER SERVICES
Player Registration
Assist with player registration and special needs for PGA TOUR Champions players and their families. Having strong interpersonal skills is needed along with being flexible during tournament week.
REQUIREMENTS: Valid Driver’s License
WORKING HOURS: 7:00 am – 12:30 and 12:30 pm – 6:00 pm, daily.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Monday – Sunday*
Player Transportation
Transport and stage courtesy vehicles at the golf course prior to tournament week. Assist with the transportation needs of players and families through the assignment of tournament provided courtesy vehicles. Driver license required and must be at least 25 years old. Committee members will not be personally responsible for gas for the tournament vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS: Valid Driver’s License.
WORKING HOURS: Shifts available between 8:00 am – 7:00 pm.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Pre-Tournament, Tournament Week, and Post-Tournament
Pro-Am Services
Pro-Am Services committee volunteers will assist with set-up for all pro-am gift distribution, pro-am registration, pro-am pairings party, and pro-am tournaments.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up-to 20 lbs., stand for 4-hours at a time, have a friendly and outgoing attitude.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor / Outdoor, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: 4-hour and 9-hour shifts.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Monday – Thursday*
Honorary Observers
Assist tournament guests granted access to walk inside the ropes. Duties include (but not limited to) credential distribution, explaining guidelines, escort to #1 tee, and photo distribution.
REQUIREMENTS: Have a friendly and outgoing attitude.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor / Outdoor, perhaps in the sun and heat.
WORKING HOURS: Flexible based on schedule of play.

COMMUNICATIONS
Office and Media Support
Assist in general administrative duties to include (but not limited to) answering phones and questions and assisting in large mailings. Additionally, assisting the PGA TOUR Champions media officials with the registration and the welcoming of local and national journalists who are in attendance to promote the event.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to drive a golf cart, problem solve, and think logically in a fast-paced environment.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Pre-Tournament (as early as mid-April), Tournament Week, and Post-Tournament
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
Volunteer Headquarters
The Volunteer Headquarters Committee will setup and maintain Volunteer HQ during tournament week, manage the volunteer check-in process, meal voucher allocation, raffle prize distribution, and assist in keeping snacks and beverages stocked. Make volunteers feel appreciated and provide them with an environment to relax and dine.
WORKING HOURS: Morning shifts may begin as early as 5:00 am.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Wednesday – Sunday
Volunteer Radio Operations
The ability for all to communicate throughout tournament week is imperative. Volunteers will distribute, retrieve and recharge all handheld radios issued to volunteers daily. Additionally, monitoring all channel transmissions to answer or redirect questions and disseminate information as requested.
WORKING HOURS: 2 hours before play begins until 1 hour after play ends, daily.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Wednesday – Sunday
Uniform Distribution
Inventory, organize, and distribute all volunteer apparel and credentials. Manage uniform distribution areas, apparel sales, as well as exchanges and returns.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up-to 20lbs.
WORKING HOURS: Wednesday/Thursday: 6:00 am – 12:00 pm. Friday – Sunday: Varies
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Pre-Tournament and Tournament Week
Volunteer Shuttles
Drive 12-passenger vans from the volunteer parking lot to Volunteer Headquarters and designated stops around the golf course.
REQUIREMENTS: Ages 18+ with valid Driver’s License.
WORKING HOURS: 2½ hours prior to play until all volunteers are returned to the volunteer parking lot, daily.
